Institute of Human Development
We would like to invite you to participate in some interesting research being conducted at the Institute of Human Development at UC Berkeley. You may have seen our research featured on the Discovery Health Channel, the NY Times, Newsweek as well as parents’ publications and the Public Broadcasting Station (PBS). Our findings have been useful to pediatricians in measuring infant progress and development. Our hope is to continue to provide basic scientific knowledge about children’s early development, and practical information that may be useful to parents, educators, and policy makers.
The Infant Studies Center, directed by Professor Joseph Campos of UC Berkeley, conducts studies with infants ages 6 to 12 months old, investigating the dramatic changes that take place when babies are becoming mobile. The primary goals of this research are to investigate how the development of locomotion might pace psychological development, as well as to understand how mobility can affect the beginnings of emotional communication.
The success of the work at the Infant Studies Center has always depended on the participation of the parents and children who generously volunteer their time. Even if your child is not old enough to participate at this time, we would be glad to add you to our growing list of interested parents so that we can contact you when your child reaches the right age.
We conduct many different studies at the lab, and if you are interested we would be delighted to tell you more about them. You can send us an email at email@example.com or you can give us a call at (510) 643-0614 between 10am and 4pm Monday through Friday. You are also welcome to call anytime outside of those hours to leave a message and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
We look forward to hearing from you soon and telling you more about our current studies.
Sincerely and on behalf of the many members of the Infancy Lab,
Joseph J. Campos, PhD
